A quick journey through my personal and professional story
Proudly Mexican and deeply connected to his culture.
Axel was born in Mexico City in 1997 to parents who specialized in database programming, which sparked his early passion for computing and programming. In 2012, Axel began his high school studies at the prestigious Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), graduating as a Technician in Digital Electronics in 2015. During this time, Axel developed his programming skills in assembly language and C++, as well as foundational knowledge in logic and basic electronics at the highly competitive CECYT 9 Juan de Dios Bátiz High School.
In early 2015, Axel’s love for reading led him to explore a newfound interest in business, which ultimately steered him to pursue a degree in Administration and Entrepreneurship at the IPN’s Escuela Superior de Comercio y Administración. Excelling academically, Axel was recognized as the top student of his class by IPN’s director at the time, Enrique Fernandez Fassnacht. He gained exposure to administration, accounting, finance, and marketing, the latter of which he found particularly engaging and continued to explore further.
In 2017, Axel made a pivotal decision to step away from his university studies to embark on his professional journey. His career began with a request from a contact at Grupo Bursátil Mexicano(GBM) to develop a web-scraping solution to support students in stock trading. This opportunity allowed Axel to dive into the development of tech solutions using Python, SQL, HTML, and CSS.
His first foray into digital marketing came in 2018 when he joined EDUCET, leveraging data analysis to improve the effectiveness of their paid media campaigns.
In 2019, Axel relocated to Querétaro, Mexico, due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here, he continued his career in digital marketing with several local agencies, eventually becoming Head of Analytics & Performance at SOME Marketing, one of Querétaro’s leading marketing agencies. In this role, Axel managed major accounts, including Costco, Smuckers, Michelin, and Rappi. Working with Rappi, Axel discovered a passion for growth marketing, which united his interests in mathematics, programming, and marketing strategy. The skills he honed there laid a foundation for success with various startups and fintech companies, such as Stori Credit Card and ASAP Delivery in Mexico and Panama City.
In late 2021, Axel joined Omnicom Media Group, one of the world’s leading media agencies, to support Amgen Group’s Marketing Science initiatives remotely from Mexico City. This marked another significant career milestone, where Axel developed strong communication skills for collaborating with English-speaking US colleagues and refined his data interpretation abilities. He can now distill complex insights from raw data into actionable stories for various non-technical stakeholders.
In 2024, Axel’s extensive experience culminated in obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering through Mexico’s Secretaría de Educación Pública Agreement 286, following an examination and practical demonstration of machine learning for lead conversion prediction.
Axel’s career continues to evolve.
